On May 1, Senator Connelly (at left) joined with the American Cancer Society at a press conference to promote the Coaches vs. Cancer "Suits and Sneakers" program and the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) enrollment effort.
Legislators and staff took a break from the usual dress code to join NCAA Coaches – including Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball coach Porter Moser – in promoting participation in the CPS-3 study dedicated to better understanding the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that cause and prevent cancer. (Coach Moser is pictured at right in the photo below. At left is Senator Darin LaHood of Peoria.)
Men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are needed to participate in the CPS-3 study.
The goal is to enroll at least 300,000 adults from diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds across the U.S., including 6,500 from Illinois.
