Connelly 5G Technology Bill Flies Out of the Senate
The Illinois Senate this week passed Senate Bill 1451, which would create a streamlined process for telecommunication companies to deploy small wireless facilities across the state. Chief co-sponsor of the bill, State Senator Michael Connelly (R-Naperville), says this legislation paves the way and lays the groundwork for next generation (5G) wireless networks.
“5G is the next generation of wireless networks. It will be faster, smarter, and less power-hungry,” said Sen. Connelly. “Illinois should be a part of this revolution and should join other the states who already provide wireless companies with the ability to put in place the proper infrastructure that is needed to support 5G technology. I hope this needed legislation receives quick and favorable consideration in the House of Representatives.”
